Crossroads Chamber Golf Outing Brings Northwest Indiana Business Community Together

On Monday, July 27, the Crossroads Chamber welcomed hundreds of business professionals from across Northwest Indiana to Innsbrook Country Club for its 2026 Golf Outing. Presented by Purdue Federal Credit Union, the annual event combined a day of golf, networking, friendly competition, and community-building, providing attendees with countless opportunities to strengthen relationships while enjoying one of the Chamber’s signature events.

The outing featured much more than 18 holes of golf. Participants enjoyed breakfast and lunch, exciting contests, on-course games, networking opportunities, and the chance to win a variety of prizes throughout the day. Popular activities included the Putt for Prizes challenge, a poker game, and interactive experiences hosted by sponsors at nearly every hole. These activities created a fun and engaging atmosphere while allowing businesses to showcase their organizations and connect with fellow Chamber members.

Every hole on the course was sponsored by a Northwest Indiana business, demonstrating the Chamber’s commitment to promoting the companies that help drive the region’s economy. From sponsors and volunteers to golfers and exhibitors, the event reflected the collaboration, generosity, and strong partnerships that define the Crossroads Chamber.

One of the highlights of this year’s outing was the debut of the Crossroads Chamber Ball Drop, sponsored by Lori Tubbs Consulting. Participants purchased golf balls for a chance to win nearly $1,000 as the Merrillville Fire Department used a bucket truck to launch hundreds of golf balls onto the course. The inaugural fundraiser quickly became a crowd favorite, adding another level of excitement to an already action-packed day.

“I was incredibly grateful to be the first sponsor of the Crossroads Chamber Golf Outing Ball Drop, and the Merrillville Fire Department’s participation was simply the cherry on top,” said Lori Tubbs of Lori Tubbs Consulting. “The Crossroads Chamber Golf Outing has a history of incredible turnout, and that was evident in the number of golf balls purchased for this fundraiser.”

For Golf Committee Chairperson and poker game sponsor Ty Tornincasa, the success of the outing represented far more than a well-organized event.

“Serving as Chairman of the Chamber Golf Committee wasn’t just about organizing a successful event—it was about bringing our business community together, building relationships, and creating opportunities that strengthen our region long after the final putt is made.”

Those lasting relationships are exactly what makes Chamber events so valuable. While the golf outing offers a fun day on the course, it also creates an environment where business leaders can build meaningful connections that often lead to future partnerships and business opportunities.

Matt Scheuer, Vice President of Business Development at Purdue Federal Credit Union, believes those relationships are among the Chamber’s greatest strengths.

“I always tell new members that the value of the Chamber is furthering their relationships because so many things that I’ve done business-wise have come through just having a conversation here with individuals in the Chamber. I think it’s a great boon for any business,” Scheuer said.

Scheuer also emphasized the importance of a thriving business community to the region’s continued growth.

“A strong business community is foundational for any place. When you’re picking where you want to move, where you want to do business, it’s only going to help strengthen the community as a whole. Our tagline has always been, ‘We want to be your financial partner for life,’ and working with you through all of those life steps—whether you’re a business owner, whether you have personal accounts, or whether you’re looking to invest—that’s important for us,” he said.

The Crossroads Chamber Golf Outing continues to be much more than an annual tournament. It is a celebration of collaboration, community, and the relationships that fuel economic growth throughout Northwest Indiana. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, volunteers, committee members, and participants, the event once again demonstrated the power of bringing the business community together—one conversation, one connection, and one round of golf at a time.
