Northwest Indiana residents trust McColly Real Estate to help sell their homes with expert marketing or guide buyers on their journey to homeownership. On Thursday, January 29, McColly held a gathering at Innsbrook Country Club to celebrate with its brokers during the annual Performance Plus Breakfast. This event gives the company an opportunity to distribute bonus checks to real estate associates who participated in the Performance Plus Program.
The Performance Plus Program is McColly’s wealth-building and investment opportunity for its brokers, giving them a structured way to invest a portion of their income (partially matched by McColly). The initial investment is indexed into either Berkshire Hathaway stock, S&P 500, or a 10-year Treasury Note fund. Five years later, those matched investments plus growth are returned to the brokers at the Performance Plus Breakfast.
“We’re here to distribute a significant amount of deferred compensation for those who have chosen to defer back in 2020,” said Matt Radencic, Finance Director at McColly. “In 2020, our world was changing. We were sitting here in January and February, wondering, ‘What is this COVID-19?’ Yet we didn’t miss a beat.”
Last year, the company distributed bonus checks totaling $1,256,285 to real estate associates from the Performance Plus Program, which was the highest in the program’s history. McColly set a new bar with this year’s bonus checks, coming to a grand total of $1,644,227.
More than 60 companies are wholly owned by Berkshire Hathaway with many other significant investments. Each associate who participates in the McColly Performance Plus program and chooses Berkshire Hathaway is an indirect owner of those brands. Brands include those such as Brooks, Fruit of the Loom, Duracell, Dairy Queen and Geico.
Ron McColly, McColly Real Estate’s founder, credits Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, as one of his mentors. He shared some key elements as to how Buffett has inspired him and taught him about investing.
McColly concluded the presentation by breaking down two different decisions that someone can make in life. He also preaches the value of habits.
“There are two acts in life, which are acts of commission and acts of omission,” McColly said. “Everybody is going to leave and either do acts of commission, which are the things we do, or the acts of omission, which are the things we don’t do. We also have to break bad habits, which can be difficult. The key is to start with good habits.”For more information on McColly Real Estate, you can visit mccolly.com.
