KV REMC Junior Board of Directors accepting applications

KV REMC Junior Board of Directors accepting applications

Do you know someone, or do you have a student, who will be a high school junior for the 2026– 2027 school year? Kankakee Valley REMC is now accepting applications for its Junior Board of Directors program.

Up to 13 students will be selected for this unique leadership opportunity and will be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship upon completion of the program.

From October through May, junior board members meet monthly, during the school day, to build leadership and career skills, connect with local business and community leaders, and complete a meaningful community service project.

Throughout the program, students will participate in hands-on experiences designed to build leadership, teamwork, and career-readiness. Activities include a team-building retreat, electing junior board officers, and attending local government meetings to see leadership in action. Students will gain insight into applying for scholarships, hear from business professionals, and tour local businesses to learn about workplace expectations. The group will also visit the Indiana Statehouse, meet with legislators, and gain insight into the judicial system and public safety through local court and law enforcement experiences.

The application can be found by visiting the KV REMC website at kvremc.com and is due at the KV REMC office by Aug. 14, 2026.
