Garber Automotive Group acquires Greiger’s Motor Sales in Valparaiso with plans to maintain company’s culture, values, and legacy

Any time two parties come together, it’s natural for the people who are affiliated with either side to feel a little uncertain. However, when you bring two like-minded organizations together with a guarantee to keep relationships steady, that uncertainty flips to excitement.

Garber Automotive Group has recently acquired Greiger’s Motor Sales in Valparaiso, which marks the group’s 26th franchise location. The new Garber Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Valparaiso is honoring the 60-year legacy of Dave Rodgers, former owner, while transitioning operations under General Manager Brad Hallal.

“For Garber, this acquisition was never simply about adding another dealership; it was about finding a team and a community whose values aligned closely with our own,” said Robert Norcross, marketing director at Garber Automotive Group. “Grieger built an incredible reputation over more than 60 years by treating people the right way, operating with honesty, and building lasting relationships throughout Valparaiso and Northwest Indiana.”

When the opportunity arose for Garber to work with Greiger, Norcross considered it a seamless fit. The opportunity to invest in a strong foundation, while supporting the future growth of the dealership for many years to come, will only continue to generate positive trends moving forward.

“The automotive industry is evolving rapidly, especially in areas like digital retailing, vehicle technology, and customer expectations,” Norcross said. “Over the next five or 10 years, this partnership positions the dealership to continue growing while remaining deeply rooted in the community.”

One of the most important parts of this collaboration is that customers will not need to fret about the relationships they have built over the years. Norcross confirms that these relationships will remain the same, and that the team customers know and rely on is still present.

What customers can expect ranges from continued investments on inventory selection, technology, online shopping tools, and the best overall customer experience they could ask for – all while keeping the personal service and community connection in place that made Greiger so special.

Through this transition, Garber will be able to continue the legacy that Greiger has built in this community for years.

“What stands out most about Grieger’s legacy is the trust they earned over decades of serving the community. You don’t remain a respected local business for more than 60 years unless people genuinely believe in the way you treat customers and employees,” Norcross said. “The dealership became more than just a place to buy a vehicle — it became a familiar and trusted part of the Valparaiso community. That kind of reputation is incredibly meaningful, and it’s something Garber deeply respects and intends to build upon.”

Now, with both operations joining forces, the goal is to maintain the cultures and values of Greiger’s reputation even through its integration into the Garber dealership group.

“The reason this partnership made sense in the first place is because the cultures were already very aligned. Garber has always believed that long-term success comes from taking care of people — customers, employees, and communities alike. We are not interested in changing the heart of what made Grieger successful. Instead, we want to support the existing team, preserve the relationships that already exist, and provide additional resources that help the dealership continue thriving for years to come,” Norcross said.

A larger dealership group creates opportunities to focus on investing more heavily in areas that customers care about the most. Expanded inventory access, enhanced online shopping tools, improved service experiences, additional technology – all of this and more is what Garber hopes will make the buying and ownership process easier and more transparent.

“Garber also brings a large internal support network across marketing, operations, and customer experience initiatives that can help the dealership continue evolving while staying focused on customer satisfaction,” Norcross said.

Community involvement has always been a focal point for both Grieger’s and Garber’s identity, and those plans will continue moving forward.

“Supporting local schools, organizations, events, and nonprofits is something we believe is part of being a responsible local business. We want to continue building meaningful relationships throughout Valparaiso and Northwest Indiana — not just as a dealership, but as an active community partner. Our goal is to be part of the community for decades to come,” Norcross said.
