Summer is prime grilling season, and it’s also a great time to enjoy meals that are full of flavor while supporting a healthy lifestyle. Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue or making a quick weeknight dinner, thoughtful ingredient choices can turn grilling into a simple way to nourish your body.
Grilling doesn’t have to mean heavy sauces or high-fat meats. Lean proteins, colorful vegetables and light marinades create satisfying meals that feel indulgent without being excessive.
Start with lean proteins such as skinless chicken or white fish, and pair them with a variety of vegetables. Grilled chicken with citrus and herbs delivers bold flavor without added fat, while vegetables, such as zucchini, bell pepper, onion and eggplant, add fiber and essential nutrients. Seafood is another excellent option. Cook it quickly on the grill and pair it with fresh toppings such as tomato or avocado.
Choose lean cuts, cook over medium heat, avoid heavy charring and fill at least half your plate with vegetables. With a few smart choices, grilling can be “both” delicious and heart-healthy all summer long.
