Crown Point Police Department Adds New Officer

The Crown Point Police Department officially welcomed Officer Shaun Meyer today, Wednesday, July 1, as he took the oath of office during the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Meyer, badge No. 138, was born and raised in Highland, Indiana, and graduated from Highland High School in 2012.
Following graduation, Meyer began his career in public service as an emergency medical technician (EMT) with Prompt Ambulance Service, where he developed a strong foundation in serving and protecting the community.
In 2015, he was sponsored by the Griffith Police Department to attend the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and graduated as a member of Class 15-34.
He began his law enforcement career as a part-time officer with the Kouts Police Department before joining the Whiting Police Department as a full-time officer in 2016. In 2020, he accepted a position with the Cedar Lake Police Department, where he continued to expand his professional experience and leadership responsibilities.
During his tenure with the Cedar Lake Police Department, Meyer served as an emergency vehicle operations course (EVOC) instructor, drone operator, field training officer and president of the Cedar Lake Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
“We are excited to have Officer Meyer join our team and look forward to the experience, professionalism and dedication he will bring to our department,” said Police Chief Ryan S. Patrick.
His first day on duty was Monday, June 22.
