Sara Quiroz Soberg is a dancer, a wife, and works multiple jobs. She grew up in South Haven and currently lives and works in La Porte.
“I grew up in South Haven and went to Portage Christian,” Soberg explained. “I’m the oldest of three, and when my siblings came along, my parents transferred me to Portage Public Schools.”
Soberg attended Purdue Northwest, where she considered majoring in Education, but ultimately decided to pursue a major in Business Management and a minor in Organizational Leadership.
Soberg is known for many things, including her hard work and friendship. She is also known for her unwavering faith.
“She’s a devout follower of Christ and her love and light shines to anyone who meets her,” one of her friends recently commented.
In all that she does, Soberg seeks to make Christ the center.
“His plan is greater than ours,” she said confidently.
Sadly, Soberg recently experienced a miscarriage. Nevertheless, she continues to lean on Christ as her and her husband grieve.
“Ultimately, I have to put my hope in Him,” she said. “It is a tough situation, but there is always hope.”
While she’s had to take some time off from fitness and physical activity because of the miscarriage, Soberg is a pilates instructor at Vibe House Pilates, previously Sweat 219.
“I come from a dance background, so pilates fits perfectly,” she explained.
Soberg is eager to return to teaching pilates once she is cleared to instruct again.
“I can’t wait to get back,” she said. “Pilates is so good for you and I miss it!”
Meanwhile, her full-time role at Lifewise Academy keeps her more than busy. In her role, she works with the local La Porte public schools to offer an elective bible-based curriculum.
“Parents can sign a permission slip so that their child can swap one elective, like art or gym, for a Lifewise Academy class once a week,” Soberg explained. “We partner with local churches or businesses aligned with our mission that are close to the school and bus the children from the school to the designated building for the class.”
Between her work with Lifewise Academy and pilates instructing, Soberg’s original interest in education at Purdue Northwest has certainly come full circle!
Soberg also has a podcast that she co-hosts each Friday called the Fearless Queens Podcast. The podcast is available on Apple, Spotify, and other platforms.
“While most of our audience is twenty-something-year-old women, anyone can listen!” said Soberg.
Soberg and her husband have two dogs, and they love to go on walks with them.
“The beach is my favorite place to be,” she said.
Soberg also loves a challenge.
“I ran the 2018 Chicago Marathon after only running eight miles one time,” she laughed. “At some point, it becomes about mind over matter.”
Soberg’s faith and witness to Christ through the ups and downs of life certainly is a positive example. Her work ethic, dedication, and love for La Porte and the surrounding areas are remarkable.
