Strack & Van Til partners with Food Bank of NWI to donate 2,000 meals for the holiday season

With the holiday season amongst us, Strack & Van Til partnered again with the Food Bank of NWI on Tuesday, December 8, for their annual Christmas meal packing. Every holiday, Strack & Van Til makes it a mission to provide meals to Region families throughout Northwest Indiana. 

Strack & Van Til’s continued relationship with the Food Bank of NWI and both entities’ passions behind this journey are the reason for its continued success. Both teams joined forces to create yet another successful year of meal packing that left all team members with smiling faces and warm hearts.

“We understand that strong communities are the foundation of a strong brand, and we’re committed to supporting the neighborhoods we serve.” Strack & Van Til COO Joe Stupka said. “Food insecurity is a big problem, and we’re in the food industry, so finding a way to give back is what we aim to do and why we continue to do this.”

Volunteering at the food bank is a tradition for many of the members of the Strack & Van Til crew. Its contributors worked swiftly, packing the 2,000 bags like a well-oiled machine.

“All of these employees make this possible,” Stupka said. “We all have a lot going on. It’s a busy time of year, but this is extremely important to us, and we just want to make sure that we all get together and help those that we can.”

Local shoppers have also supported this initiative. Strack & Van Til began its annual Checkout Challenge Roundup Campaign at the end of October that will continue until January 4^th. Cashiers invite shoppers to round up their totals. The spare change is then donated to the Food Bank of NWI. This campaign shows how small change adds up to big impact, proving that even minor donations from daily shopping can become a massive force against regional hunger, making a real difference in people’s lives. 

“Our shoppers give us an even greater opportunity to contribute, allowing us to raise a lot more money and make a bigger impact for those who need it,” Stupka said.
