They called them witches. They were just women who refused to obey. Set in 17th-century England, “Vinegar Tom” follows a group of women whose crimes are simple: living on their own terms. When the village turns against them, the consequences are brutal. Caryl Churchill’s landmark feminist play moves between the past experiences of women and present-day punk music to explore who gets labeled dangerous, who gets believed, and who gets to make the rules.
The Valparaiso University Theatre presents “Vinegar Tom,” directed by George Potter, Associate Professor of English, in the University Theatre in the Center for the Arts, 1709 Chapel Drive. Tickets are $20 for general admission, and $15 for students and seniors. To purchase, visit: https://app.arts-people.com/?show=297964
