Wolf Lake Site Emerges as Leading Candidate for Potential Chicago Bears Stadium

South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority Highlights Hammond’s Natural and Transit Assets

The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority (SSCVA) is highlighting the Wolf Lake site in Hammond, Indiana, as it continues to draw attention as a leading candidate for a new Chicago Bears stadium. The property, located along the Indiana-Illinois border, offers scenic waterfront views, direct access to the South Shore Line rail corridor, proximity to downtown Chicago, and a gateway to Northwest Indiana’s growing visitor economy.

Recent broadcast coverage of the site, including footage aired during two Bears preseason games last month, has introduced a national audience to Wolf Lake’s setting. The SSCVA is seeing the growing attention as an opportunity to showcase the full scope of what Hammond and the surrounding region offer, from waterfront green space to transit connectivity that would allow fans to travel to games without a car.

“Wolf Lake shows the world what we already know about this region. Northwest Indiana offers the kind of lakefront setting and connectivity you can’t find just anywhere. Whatever the outcome of the Bears’ site search, we see this as a moment to introduce new audiences to everything Hammond and the South Shore have to offer,” said Phil Taillon, SSCVA President/CEO.
