Weiss Entities hosts a floral-filled evening for residents

On Thursday, August 20, Weiss Entities hosted a floral-filled evening where residents had the opportunity to customize floral arrangements with friends and family, while letting their creativity blossom. People were able to come together, mingle, and let their creativity flow at the bouquet building event hosted at the Lakes of Valparaiso Clubhouse.

The evening was hosted by Julie Fregien, owner of Heartfelt Celebrations, a DIY party rental service. Inspired by a flower bar she saw at a bridal shower, she decided to add the flower cart to her rental list.

“It’s a fun way for people to interact,” Fregien said. “Flowers always make people smile.”

At 6 p.m., residents lined up to start creating, while catching up with friends and meeting new faces. With the sun setting and weather pleasantly warm, the outside event allowed people to fully enjoy the activity.

Fregien brought her flower bar cart, which was filled with roses, baby’s breath, greenery, and more, to the clubhouse for two hours. Each resident was able to customize their bouquet in whichever way they liked by picking local flowers and accent greenery. Fregien would help residents tie and bag their bouquets to take home with a variety of ribbon colors to match the flowers. Fregien would also assist them, if needed, when creating the bouquet.

With an assortment of bright, beautiful flowers, residents were sure to leave the event with not only a new decoration for their space, but a smile on their faces.

“Whatever makes your heart smile, you should have in your hand,” said Fregien.

Terri Kesler has been a resident at Lakes of Valparaiso for two years. As someone who loves flowers, she decided to check out the event alongside her daughter, and create her own bouquet based on the colors she liked. Kesler believes events like this are important to build community, especially in today’s society.

For resident Samantha, this was her first time being able to attend an event hosted at the clubhouse, due to her job schedule in Human Resources, but she wanted to come out and meet her neighbors. She made her bouquet with more greenery than flowers, since she believes it looks more alive.

“I love learning about local businesses, and I just learned about this business,” she said. “Also, for me, I wanted to learn about my neighbors.”

Fregien’s hope for the event was that residents would be able to meet their neighbors, build community, and bring smiles to faces, and the event accomplished just that. From sisters picking out their bouquets together to friends laughing as they tied each other’s bundles, the evening was a perfect way to end August.
