A picture’s worth a thousand words, and we’ve had an awful lot to say this year! In 2025, you probably saw one of our photographers wearing GreatNews.Life apparel attending a sporting event, graduation ceremony, holiday festival, hometown parade, business celebration, or other special event near you. The photos captured at these gatherings were shared on your news feeds throughout the year, and each one tells a special story, a moment in time that you can now cherish forever.
Whether it was of you crossing the finish line at a race, of a neighbor you know getting nominated at an awards ceremony, or of your own child holding their diploma proudly at their graduation ceremony, there are so many photos worth sharing, and we thank you for providing us with so much good to photograph.

Hobart High School held its graduation ceremony for the senior class of 2025 on June 1st.

Chesteron High School held its Grand March event, letting students and faculty dress their best and enjoy the night in a fashionable manner.

The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Sojourner Truth House held an event where community members could come together and walk with each other.

Crown Point High School held its graduation ceremony on June 5th for its class of 2025.

On Thursday, January 30, the Chesterton Trojan Scramble brought together Junior Varsity wrestlers from several schools for an exciting competition. Participating teams included Chesterton, Hammond Baptist, Kankakee Valley, La Porte, Merrillville, Michigan City, New Prairie, Portage, Wheeler, Hobart, and Valparaiso.

Merrillville HS kicked off the Battle of Broadway with past Pirate cheer Alumni to perform with the current Pirate cheer squad. It is an alumni tribute to help perform the fight song and to honor former cheerleading coach, Lori Govert.
“It means a lot. The game is big every year. I know all these guys who I’ve grown up with and this game means a lot to them. It’s important to the town. We can’t wait to play!” (Pat Winters- Merrillville HS Assistant football coach)

The Portage Indians hosted there conference schools for the Girls varsity Track Regionals. The Valparaiso Vikings took home the team win making it four in a row of Regional Champions.

Chesterton Boys are regional champions!
After the sectional events, Isaac Roman of Crown Point is now currently ranked #1 in the Indiana for the 2025 season with an impressive pole vault of 16′ 6″. Not far behind Demarco Easter of Merrillville now holds the #2 spot with a vault of 16′ 3″.
The LaPorte 4×800 team had an impressive 7:50.49 putting them in the #1 seat for Indiana in the 2025 Track Season.

The SSCVA NSA Fast Pitch World Series hosted its Opening Ceremony on July 17th.

Purdue University Northwest (PNW) Athletics hosted its 12th annual Late Night Madness event on Oct. 30 to celebrate and preview the start of the women’s and men’s basketball seasons. Student-athletes showed off their skills with activities including 3-point and dunk contests, while student fans showed out in a Halloween costume contest, a dance contest and other games.
