The Library’s Centre Branch Will Reopen Ahead of Schedule with New Features and Fresh Spaces

After a significant renovation, Centre Branch will be reopening ahead of schedule on Tuesday, September 2nd. Complete with new study rooms, fresh paint & carpet, and a vibrant outdoor Story Garden.

The St. Joe County Public Library is thrilled to announce the reopening of its Centre Branch on Tuesday, September 2nd, following a comprehensive $1.5 million renovation.

The renovation includes essential modernizations like energy-efficient lighting, fresh paint, new carpet, and updated furnishings. But it’s the new features that really shine: additional study rooms, and the debut of the Story Garden. A park-like outdoor space featuring native landscaping, natural play structures, and a Story Trail that encourages reading through exploration & movement.

This project represents the future of our libraries. Welcoming, innovative, and tailored to our neighborhoods,” said Stephanie Murphy, Executive Director of St. Joe County Public Library. “We’re excited for patrons to return to a space that feels familiar but has been transformed in all the right ways.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held one week after the branch opens. September 9th from 4-6pm. It’s a great chance to celebrate the renovation, explore the refreshed space, and enjoy the new Story Garden.
