Surf Internet sponsors Kids’ Day at Elkhart County 4-H Fair

Hundreds of families filled Heritage Park on Wednesday, July 29, for Kids’ Day at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, where children spent the morning exploring interactive activities, riding carnival rides, and completing the annual Treasure Hunt. 

As the Kids’ Day sponsor, Surf Internet partnered with the E3 Robotics Center to host a Treasure Hunt stop, giving children a hands-on introduction to robotics and STEM while encouraging them to explore organizations serving the community. 

Children watched demonstrations featuring robots built by E3 Robotics students, decorated and engineered their own propellers, and interacted with a robot that launched balls into the air. After completing the activities, participants earned a stamp on their Treasure Hunt map as they worked toward prize drawings held throughout the day.

For E3 Robotics Executive Director Brian Boehler, the partnership with Surf was a natural fit. 

“A lot of our students rely on technology and high-speed internet, especially our middle and high school esports teams,” Boehler said. “Surf has gone above and beyond by sponsoring fiber internet for our building, so partnering together at Kids’ Day made perfect sense.” 

Inside the Commercial Building, Surf also welcomed fairgoers with face painting, crafts, magnetic robot figures, giveaways, and a raffle for a Nintendo Switch. 

Both of Surf’s booths reflected the company’s commitment to introducing young people to new opportunities through technology, creativity, and hands-on learning. 

“There are so many different career paths available today,” said Jordan Holzwart, regional market manager for Surf Internet. “Programs like E3 Robotics help introduce kids to those opportunities, and we’re proud to support organizations that invest in the next generation.” 

The robotics station remained busy throughout the day as children and families stopped to explore STEM activities between other Kids’ Day events, including balloon artists, races, games, and stage performances. 

“It’s always great to interact with so many families from across Elkhart and St. Joseph counties,” Boehler said. “Events like this help us reach more students and get them excited about STEM.” 

Surf has supported the Elkhart County 4-H Fair for nearly a decade and continues to invest in organizations that strengthen the communities it serves, including partnerships that help connect young people with educational and career opportunities.
