St. Michael the Archangel Parish to Host Annual $100,000 Mega Raffle

St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Schererville will host its annual $100,000 Raffle as part of its Festival Day on Saturday, August 8, a one-day festival celebration. Each year, the raffle helps to raise funds for the parish as well as different local organizations. This year, a portion of the raffle proceeds will go to Planting Possibilities, which facilitates meaningful work opportunities for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and Down Syndrome Association of Northwest Indiana (DSANWI), which supports individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.

The raffle features $100,000 in cash prices with a grand prize of $50,000. The raffle is designed with 1-20 odds and tickets are $100 each. St. Michael’s $100,000 Raffle, now 20 years running, is one of the largest parish raffles nationally.

Parishioners Michael Quigley and Joan McInerney have co-chaired the $100,000 Raffle for many years. Quigley originally began co-chairing the event as a way to give back through his background in business.

“We don’t put a cap on the number of tickets,” said Quigley. “Instead, what we do is the more tickets we sell, the more prizes we add. This way the odds always stay the same and we are able to sell as many tickets as possible.”

About 10 years ago, St. Michael instituted an early bird drawing to help incentivize participation. This year, the early bird drawing will be on Sunday, July 26 at 2 p.m. Two $500 prizes will be awarded as part of the early bird drawing. The raffle will be livestreamed from the parish’s Facebook page @StMichaelSville.

In 2020, despite not hosting a parish festival that year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the raffle hit a record number of tickets sold.

“We sold 3,600 tickets in 2020 and, since then, have fluctuated just above or just below that amount by a 100 or so tickets,” said Quigley.

The festival, which runs from 5-11 p.m., will feature food, live music, bingo, and more.

There are multiple ways to purchase early bird tickets and general raffle tickets. To pay by phone with a debit card, call the parish at (219) 322-4505 ext. 8220. You can also request a ticket at stmichaelparish.life.

To purchase the tickets in person with cash, credit card, or check, visit the parish office at 1 E. Wilhelm Street in Schererville. The parish office is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You can also mail or drop off a ticket order form to this address.
