South Suburban College Offers Free ESL and GED/High School Equivalency Classes This Fall

South Suburban College (SSC) is helping adults take the next step toward achieving their educational and career goals by offering FREE English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED/High School Equivalency (HSE) classes beginning this Fall 2026.

Whether individuals are looking to improve their English language skills, earn a high school equivalency credential, prepare for college, or advance their careers, SSC’s Adult Education Program provides high-quality instruction at no cost to eligible students.

Extended Registration Dates

Registration is available by appointment only on the following dates:

  • August 17–19, 24–26, 31
  • September 1–2

ESL Class Locations

To better serve the community, ESL classes are offered at multiple convenient locations:

  • South Suburban College Main Campus
    15800 S. State St., South Holland, IL
  • Online
  • Midlothian Public Library
  • Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lansing, IL

Registration Requirements

At the time of registration, all students will complete a placement assessment and must provide:

  • A current Illinois State ID or Driver’s License showing Illinois residency.
  • Students under the age of 18 must provide an official withdrawal form from the high school in their district of residence.
