These projects are funded through the Gary Blight Elimination Program, which was authorized by the State legislature in 2023 and is managed jointly by the RDA and the City of Gary. The original $12 million dedicated to the program – half from the RDA, half from the City – has since been bolstered by an additional $15 million from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s READI 2.0 program that will fund additional demolition work, renovations to the Hudson & Campbell Center, and incentives for new development.
