Porter-Starke Services gets everyone in spooky season spirit with annual Trunk or Treat

Porter-Starke Services hosted its 2025 Trunk or Treat in the parking lot of Marram Health Center’s University Park Medical Center in Gary on Saturday, October 25, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The beloved annual event welcomed individuals, friend groups, and families across the community to don Halloween costumes and explore all the decorated and themed trunks in the parking lot with enough candies and goodies to go around.

“The Ghostface costume I saw looked the most well-made,” said an event attendee. “The hippie trunk or treater was also a favorite of mine.”

For over 10 years, Porter-Starke Services has connected with the community through its yearly Trunk or Treat event. Walking around the parking lot to check out each trunk is a blast for trick-or-treaters each year because of the care, excitement, and dedication the trunks’ hosts put into decorating their vehicles. Whether they are decked out with Halloween icons, themed after pop-culture franchises, or equipped with interactive features, each trunk came with a unique, personal touch that brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

“We decided to go with minimal decorations,” said Robert Cook, president of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. “We’re mostly out here to support the children coming through with the candy and anything else that needs to be done.”

While candy was available at each trunk, some trunk hosts went even further, supplying goodies, prizes, and even fun games and activities.

“I would say giving back to the community and letting kids be kids on days like today is what motivated us to come here,” said Cook.

Marram’s staff and members of other community organizations and businesses generously pour their time and effort into making the Trunk or Treat successful year after year. Porter-Starke Services is happy to give back to the community and connect with people of all ages through this fun showcase of spooky season spirit.

“We do it because of the kids,” said Nancy Hunter, outreach coordinator of Porter-Starke Services. “It’s something to enjoy for the kids, and then we can connect with the parents. As long as we try to connect with the community and reach out to them and show them our love, they’ll come in.”
