Oak Partners creates shining relationships during annual Sunset Social tradition at Dunes Pavilion

As the sun began to set over Lake Michigan, Oak Partners shared the occasion with clients, advisors, and partners. The firm’s annual Sunset Social offered a casual community tradition with a chance to spark conversations and strengthen relationships outside of the office.

Mike Hadt, financial advisor at Oak Partners, values the Sunset Social as the paramount gathering for networking opportunities.

“The Sunset Social is always the best way for us to connect with clients. Most of the time, you might see your clients in front of a desk. It opens up a little bit with a better connection here,” Hadt said. “This is where we can hear more about some of the other things that are important to them, such as their social life or what they do for fun. This event serves a purpose for not just the people who have been clients for more than a decade, but also the new ones.”

Stephanie Hescher, executive assistant at Oak Partners, believes that events like the Sunset Social create both a personal and professional atmosphere for everyone in attendance.

“This is a good opportunity for us, at the beginning of the summer, to spend the day with one another,” Hescher said. “People can talk about their accounts and their families.”

The Sunset Social this year took place at the Dunes Pavilion. Celebrating a warm, summer night along the coast of Lake Michigan with a clear view of Chicago made for a cozy atmosphere.

“It’s a unique venue, and it’s always tough to beat the sunset,” Hadt said. “Every year, we’re always trying to raise the bar in everything we do. In this year’s case, we’re able to celebrate it on a beautiful day.”

With so many planned attendees this year, Oak Partners decided to make the Sunset Social a two-day celebration. More than 120 people were in attendance on Tuesday, June 23, and 140 people came for the event on Wednesday, June 24.

Oak Partners has always prioritized events that separate themselves from any other firm, such as March Madness celebrations, economic update dinners, guest speaker brunches, and Oaktoberfest. Jack DeHaven, wealth advisor with Oak Partners, considers the innovation that goes into these events to be beneficial opportunities for people to get an understanding of their situation through something exciting.

“We have plenty of events, both social and educational, but this event is unlike any other that we do. Some of our events feature our advisors speaking in front of the room, which are always great events for us, but this one really drives home the idea of engaging individually with one another. The clients love to come out and build these relationships,” DeHaven said.

By sunset, Oak Partners had transformed the evening into a space where people could enjoy food, drinks, and familiarize themselves with the wealth management firm’s services and the market as a whole.

“This is a forum where we want to answer questions that people have about the market, something they’ve seen in their accounts, or anything related to the financial side of things,” DeHaven said. “Some of our clients are able to bring friends and family members out here who might benefit from our services, and we’re able to see if they’re a great fit for us as well.”
