Ivy Tech celebrates Class of 2026 at Spring Commencement

Ivy Tech Community College invited friends, family, and peers to celebrate the Class of 2026 as they turned their tassels during the college’s 2026 Spring Commencement. This year’s academic class earned over 2,000 degrees and certificates, an incredible feat of academic excellence.

“We are incredibly excited and proud of all of our students and their many accomplishments. Our students have worked incredibly hard to accomplish their degrees. We are greatly looking forward to seeing all our students gathered alongside their families and guests of honor to share in this momentous occasion,” said Campus Chancellor Aco Sikoski in a press release ahead of the commencement.

Ivy Tech serves as Indiana’s workforce engine, providing students with the skills and connections they need to succeed upon graduation. It was a day of celebration as over 1,000 Ivy Tech students received their degrees and prepared to enter the next phase of their careers.

In addition, the ceremony served as a celebration of several students and community members who have distinguished themselves. This included 2026 Graduate Kara Rodriguez, who was named the 2026 Distinguished Graduate. Rodriguez will be graduating with over 300 hours of fieldwork experience.

“We are so proud of our students and their dedication, their work, and their countless efforts in reaching this milestone,” said Erika Mihalek, director of marketing and communications at the Valparaiso campus.

Ivy Tech also awarded an honorary degree to Chesterton High School Principal Brent Martinson and named Lita Peters the 2026 Distinguished Alumna for her work as executive director at Respite House.

The event’s keynote address was given by Center of Workforce Innovations President & CEO Lisa Daugherty.

As graduates step into the workforce, they do so with confidence thanks to the education and opportunities afforded by Ivy Tech. Through business partnerships and real hands-on experience, graduates leave primed for success.

“Ivy Tech Community College is the school for everyone. We deliver higher education at the speed of life,” said Mihalek. “Our students are ready to apply knowledge, and insights gained throughout their studies and apply concepts to their next chapter. Commencement isn’t an ending. It’s only the beginning.”
