May was the last month of school in the 2025-2026 school year for students at Morgan Township High School (MTHS). Student athletes competed in their Porter County Conference (PCC), sectional, and regional games for all spring sports. MTHS also had its annual awards ceremony, celebrating the accomplishments of its students.
The MTHS awards ceremony was held on May 21 in the gymnasium. At the ceremony, awards were given both for academic performance and for extracurricular participation.
One of the awards given out was the Morgan Award, voted on by teachers and given to students who exemplify the attitude and values of MTHS. Braden Bryan, Juliana Cook, Luke Drozd, and Kaylee Krieger received the award.

“I was really excited to receive this award,” Krieger said. “I’m proud of myself and how all my hard work was recognized.”
The MTHS Varsity Golf team had their PCC Championship on May 11. Their sectionals tournament will be June 4. One member of the team, Luke Drozd, was awarded the Mental Attitude Award.
“I was surprised and honored to get the award, and I was proud of myself and my team,” said Drozd.
The MTHS Boys and Girls Track and Field teams also had various meets throughout May. The girls and boys had their PCC Championships on May 9. The girls had their sectionals meet on May 19 and the boys had theirs on May 21. Both Isabella Bryan and Aiden Dippo received the Mental Attitude Award.
“I was very honored to receive the Mental Attitude Award for track and field. Everyone I’ve known who has received this award has been some of the best people I’ve ever met,” Dippo said. “Knowing that those are the kinds of people chosen for this award reassures me that I’m doing something right and motivates me to be a better person.”
Although the school year ended in May, several school events will continue taking place in June.

Graduation will take place on June 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Earlier in the day, at 10 a.m., the graduation walk through will take place as well. At graduation, both the MTHS band and choir will be performing for the class of 2026 and their families.
“I’m looking forward to graduation because it’s one of the last moments the class gets to spend together. All year, everyone is so eager to graduate that it becomes pretty sentimental, and it’s such a refreshing reassurance that we all have made it. It’s also the last time you get to see everyone all at once,” said class president and valedictorian Garret Stavitzke. “All year, everyone is constantly gone because they’re tired or at vocational school, and you don’t always get to see everyone as much as you wish you would, besides for that last moment at graduation. It’s truly a highlight of your high school years that almost sets the stage of how you remember them.”
Throughout the rest of June, the Girls Volleyball team will continue their team workouts, which began earlier in the semester. The team practices together for their upcoming season all throughout summer, allowing them to grow as players and teammates.
“I’m excited to see the growth and potential of my teammates. These open gym workouts help me push myself,” said Cathryn Gulley, volleyball player.
Allyson Damjanovic is in her first year working at MTHS as a secretary. Her favorite part about MTHS is the students and community.
“I had been a stay-at-home mom for seven years, and with my youngest going to kindergarten, I thought it’d be a nice transition with everyone in the same place and still have the summers off with my kids,” she said.

Damjanovic is also the coach for the middle school cheer team and the MTHS Varsity Dance team. She hopes to get a membership with the Indiana High School Dance Team Association so the Varsity Dance team can compete at the state level.
“I love watching my dance team perform. Those girls worked so incredibly hard this last year, and it’s like having 20 more children when I watch them. I literally beam with pride like they are my own kids,” Damjanovic said. “I’m also a huge fan of high school girls basketball! Their PCC run this year left me hoarse from cheering!”
In her free time, Damjanovic enjoys landscaping and wants to start a small flower garden. She also has cats, and loves to talk about them.
“The best piece of advice that I’ve received is that ‘No’ is a complete sentence! I’m still learning healthy boundaries in all aspects of my life,” Damjanovic said.
Isabella Bryan is a senior at MTHS. She is an officer for Interact Club and a member of National Honor Society, 4-H, Student Council, cross country, basketball, soccer, and track and field.

“My greatest achievements so far have been the cross country team going to state all four years I have been in high school, being the PCC cross country MVP my junior season, and winning the State Fair fashion review two years in a row,” Bryan said.
Bryan plans to attend Marian University to major in exercise science. Later, she plans on becoming a pediatric occupational therapist. At Marian University, she will also be competing on the cross country and track and field teams.
“High school goes by way faster than you think, so don’t spend all your time waiting for the next year or next season,” Bryan said. “Enjoy the little moments, make memories with your friends, and appreciate where you are now because before you know it, it’ll be over.”
Bryan’s favorite part about Morgan Township High School is the small, close knit community. She enjoys attending basketball games as well.
“I’d want people to know that serving my community is important to me – I enjoy helping others, making a positive impact, and being someone people can rely on when they need support,” Bryan said.
