Goshen Community Schools welcomes Scott Kovatch as Director of Exceptional Learners

Goshen Community Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Scott Kovatch as the district’s new Director of Exceptional Learners, bringing nearly four decades of experience in education, student services, special education, and school leadership to the district.
Kovatch joins GCS after serving as Executive Director of Luvability Ministries, a nonprofit organization supporting young adults and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Throughout his career, he has also served as an assistant superintendent, principal, human resources administrator, district supervisor for exceptional learners, and school social worker across northern Indiana.
As Director of Exceptional Learners, Kovatch will oversee the district’s special education programs, collaborating with educators and families to ensure students receive high-quality services while supporting compliance, staffing, professional development, and district-wide systems that help students with diverse learning needs succeed.
Kovatch holds an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree and Superintendent’s License from Indiana State University, a master’s degree in educational administration from Indiana University South Bend, a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with an emphasis in special education from Indiana University.
“Scott’s passion for serving students and families, combined with his extensive leadership experience, makes him an outstanding addition to our district,” said Superintendent Jim DuBois. “His commitment to ensuring every student has access to the support they need aligns perfectly with our mission of inspiring innovation, empowering potential, and enriching our world.”
Kovatch said he is looking forward to partnering with educators, families, and the community to continue strengthening services for students.
