Deep River Waterpark hosts first ever Adults Only Night at the waterpark for ages 21 and up

When the waterpark first opened in 1995, Deep River Waterpark was seen as one of the premier destinations for water slides, lazy river rides, splash pads, and more. While the waterpark still maintains a strong standing in Northwest Indiana, it’s the creativity of the events and activities that have allowed it to continue thriving more than three decades later.

On Saturday, July 18, Deep River Waterpark opened its doors to the community for an Adults Only Night. While the community has generally been a hot spot for kids and their families to enjoy the water during the summer, this event was created as a way to try something new at Deep River Waterpark.

The idea for this event has been discussed over the years by Deep River Waterpark staff members. Now that it has finally turned into a reality, many of the guests are stoked for this opportunity.

“We’ve been doing a variety of events around Northwest Indiana, and we partnered with the Deep River water park to team up and do this fun event. This is a great night and helps to connect with more people throughout the region,” said Nikko, owner of the Public Rec Bar & Grill.

Deep River Waterpark’s special events all run during the evening hours of the day, which falls after the standard hours of operation.

“My girls and I are out for a night and it’s like a private party here. No lines on any of the slides, and it’s fun to hang out with friends,” said Shannon, an attendee at the event.

While the idea of having a night for adults only has not always been a popular one, the Deep River Waterpark team has been listening to what the community is looking for out of their facility. Recently, this idea started to gain momentum, which led to the waterpark trying it out for the first time.

While it is easy to look at Deep River Waterpark as simply a place for the rides, the hope is that with events like this, the community will continue to see it as more than that.

“We love to be able to get out for a night without the kids and enjoy ourselves like kids again.  Having great weather to enjoy it without huge crowds is a bonus,” said Alexis Johnson, an attendee from the event.

As Deep River Waterpark is in the midst of its 31st anniversary, the team is grateful that they are still able to come up with creative ways to put together fun events that have never been done before at the waterpark.

The next special event of the summer at Deep River Waterpark will be the Back to School SPLASHaganza, which is set to take place on Saturday, August 1.
