The Crown Point Police Department officially welcomed Officer Toni Pieczul today, Wednesday, July 15, as she took the oath of office during the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Pieczul, badge No. 139, is a 2022 graduate of Crown Point High School, where she was an active student athlete who played soccer and basketball. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in criminal justice from Indiana University Bloomington.
She comes from a family with deep roots in public service. Her father, Alan Pieczul, is a retired police officer from the Calumet City Police Department; his commitment to law enforcement is what inspired Pieczul to pursue a career dedicated to serving others.
Pieczul will begin her law enforcement training at the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (NILEA) on Monday, July 27.
Once her training is complete, she will be the sixth woman on the current CPPD ranks.
“During every step of the interview process, Officer Pieczul stood out to our hiring team. We’re excited to welcome her to the Crown Point Police Department. Her Crown Point background makes her a great fit to serve our community,” said Police Chief Ryan S. Patrick.
