Crown Point Fire Hosting Open House on Oct. 11

The Crown Point Fire Department will host its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at 126 N. East St.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is Charge Into Fire Safety. Safe Charging Is a Superpower, which focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

There will be a cooking fire demonstration, a vehicle extrication, obstacle course, home safety tips, fire truck rides and food trucks.

This free, family friendly event is for all ages.

“Our annual Open House is a great way for our firefighters to connect with our community outside of calls. We look forward to this event every year and can’t wait to see everyone,” said Fire Chief Mark Baumgardner Jr. “We’re grateful for all the local organizations who partner with us to highlight the importance of fire safety and risk reduction inside the home.”
