Through Team UP, Comcast’s year-round volunteerism and employee engagement program, more than 20 Comcast volunteers partnered with The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana on September 22 to provide critical food assistance to over 300 households impacted by the historic August storms in Northwest Indiana.

Volunteers helped sort and pack grocery items to be distributed through The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana’s Mobile Market food assistance program, which brings free groceries to neighborhoods throughout the area.

Comcast’s partnership with The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana follows the company’s $75,000 contribution to support statewide disaster relief and ongoing recovery support through the American Red Cross Indiana Region’s Storms Fund as well as the Legacy Foundation in Lake County, Indiana.

Based in Merrillville, The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has been leading the Region’s fight against food insecurity since 1982 and distributes approximately 7.6 million meals each year to hungry children, adults, families, and seniors across Lake and Porter counties. Each month, the Food Bank serves more than 60,000 individuals through its 150+ partner agencies and programs like Mobile Market, Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors, Food is Medicine partnerships, and Pantry Pack programs.
