A Christmas Story Comes Home Now on Display through January 4th

The Exhibit
The Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond features six animated display scenes from “A Christmas Story.” The displays include Higbee’s Department Store Window, Flick’s Tongue and the Triple Dog Dare, It’s a Major Award, Santa’s Mountain at Higbee’s, The Bumpus Hounds and A Hero’s Dream.
Flick Statue
In addition to the exhibit, visitors will have the opportunity to see Flick have his tongue stuck to a flag pole, a bronze homage to the classic scene from the movie, in front of the Indiana Welcome Center. Make sure to get your picture taken with Flick!
“Oh Fuuudge!”
The “Oh Fuuudge!” Tire Changing Relay will be held on Saturday, Dec.13. Parent/child teams will run through an obstacle course and prizes will be awarded to the pair with the best time. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m.
“Mommy’s Little Piggy”
“Mommy’s Little Piggy” Mashed Potato Eating Contest will feature plates mounded with mashed potatoes and contestants of different age groups showing how the piggies eat. This popular contest will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20. Registration will start at 10:00 a.m.
Traveling Window
One of the iconic windows from the annual “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit will be spending this holiday season at Fair Oaks Farms in Newton County, Indiana. While there, be sure to stop in at the Farmhouse Restaurant for fabulous American farm cuisine.
Gift Shop
The Indiana Welcome Center’s gift shop offers an array of “A Christmas Story” movie memorabilia including costumes, novelties and the infamous leg lamp in several different sizes!
