Center for Hospice Care recently announced that the fourth Circle of Caring Award Dinner will honor Elkhart County legends Kim and Scott Welch. The award was established to honor individuals who demonstrate civic and charitable stewardship to improve the quality of living in the community. It recognizes the recipients for exhibiting exceptional generosity, outstanding community achievements, direct financial support or by motivating others to give.
Kim and Scott embody all of these qualities. The Humane Society of Elkhart County has benefitted greatly from Kim’s long-time dedication as a board member and chair of their signature event, Best in Show. Center for Hospice Care’s bereavement services and Elkhart Campus have also received generous support from the Welches. The main bereavement office – the Joel and Elizabeth Welch Life Transition Center – is named in memory of Scott’s parents. They also support employees through the Make a Difference Fund at Welch Packaging.
The Make a Difference fund is a budgeted program that helps employees who are going through a tough time, whether it be financial difficulties or medical hardships, get back on their feet. According to Scott, “My belief is that God gave me a purpose in life and I’ve had a lot of lucky things happen to me. I’m a conduit, in a sense, if good things happen we shouldn’t just bestow it on ourselves.”
We hope you will join us on Wednesday, October 28th at the Lerner Theater as we honor Kim and Scott Welch for their continued support of the Elkhart community.
