1st Source Bank Foundation, in collaboration with 1st Source Bank, supports projects and organizations making a significant impact on the social, cultural, and economic well-being of the communities they serve. With a focus on social welfare, education, the arts, and development, 1st Source Bank Foundation makes sure its impact is as wide as possible by partnering with established private and public entities already making a difference.

1st Source Bank was founded with community leadership as a core value, along with teamwork, integrity, superior quality, and outstanding client service. In 2023, 1st Source employees logged approximately 14,300 volunteer hours through its VolunteerMatch program, supporting organizations such as United Way of Northwest Indiana, TradeWinds Services, and Meals on Wheels.

The Bank encourages employees to pursue volunteer opportunities for causes near to their hearts. This includes serving on the boards of local organizations, giving time to pack weekend bags for students experiencing food insecurity, and sponsoring local events. The end result is a stronger community and happier employees.

“We strive to not only serve our clients well, but also to serve the communities where we live and work,” said Matt Vessely, West Region President at 1st Source Bank. “With programs like our VolunteerMatch, we emphasize to employees how important it is to our culture to give back.”

1st Source Bank’s volunteer work creates strong relationships with both clients and the community, enhancing 1st Source Bank Foundation’s community funding efforts. With 1st Source Bank’s employees working directly with the community, many times they are able to further support the Foundation’s efforts with physical time spent volunteering at those non-profits receiving the grant dollars.

In order to be eligible for a grant through 1st Source Bank Foundation, 501(c)(3) nonprofits must have a detailed plan that identifies a problem within their community, have measurable goals and timelines for addressing said problem, and provide budgetary needs as well as the level of support added by other contributors. While 1st Source Bank Foundation doesn’t refuse applications from newly established entities, it does prefer a record of success and impact when deciding how to allocate grants.
