IU Northwest Opens Charging Stations to Community During Power Outages

Charging Stations Located in the Lobby of the Library Conference Center

In response to extended power outages affecting communities across Northwest Indiana, Indiana University Northwest is opening the lobby of the John W. Anderson Library/Conference to provide community members with access to device charging. The building is located at 130 W. 35th Avenue, Gary, Indiana, 46408. Community members can only enter the building using the 35th Avenue entrance.

Three Power Towers can be found in the building’s lobby, where members of the public may charge phones and other electronic devices during the following hours:

  • **Saturday, August 22: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • **Sunday, August 23: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Monday, August 24 – Thursday, August 27: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Friday, August 28: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

** Indicating special hours due to the power outages. The lobby is not traditionally open on these days.

Please note that the remainder of the IU Northwest campus will be closed through Sunday, August 23, and will reopen Monday, August 24.

IU Northwest is pleased to make this resource available to our Northwest Indiana neighbors as our community continues to navigate the impacts of the extended power outages.
