Congratulations to Merrillville HS for winning the 2026 Girls DAC track championship!
“I try to talk to my friends and to get out of my own head, listen to some music, and just have fun before the meet. Then once it’s time to warm up, that my time to lock in and get ready…I think a benefit to our team is that we try to practice in all weather conditions, so we’re prepared for whatever meet day looks like and a key is definitely staying warm, having a lot of layers, and just staying positive.” (Jemma Adamski-Valparaiso HS)
“I would say the same thing, (Jemma’s response) just getting out of my head, listening to what my coach has to say and when it’s time to warm up, really just locking in on that and making sure it’s a good warm up for days that are like this. Days that are rainy and a bit colder. Positive self talk definitely; just telling yourself that you’re good, you’ve done this before, and you will do your best…” “We don’t have a track inside so we’re always prepared for weather and just staying warm. We’ve done this before, so you just come in here and know what you need to get done; especially in rainy weather.” (Lillian Branham -Valparaiso HS)
