FINAL SCORE 48-21 Merrillville
Today was a special occasion as it was Valparaiso High School’s Homecoming celebration and announcement of the Homecoming Court. The Valparaiso HS Dance and Band squads performed during halftime while the VHS Homecoming court finalists were led by the VHS dance squad after performing. A big shout out to Homecoming Court winners Kellan Hosek and Maddie Ehrhart as your 2025 Homecoming King and Queen!
“I will say that we start off with little cheers, like spelling out words or spelling out Merrillville to get the crowd going. Then we interact with the crowds, do stunts, and baskets!” “Also something that we do that other teams don’t also do is stomp and shake and I feel like that gets the crowd really riled up and having interactive dance along with doing stunts.” -Jurnee Pearson and Olivia Hill (Merrillville Varsity Cheerleading)
“I was really excited. I was nervous. My heart was beating to get it done and everything about it is really exciting and fun. It’s really exciting because my Mom’s won Homecoming Queen and my Sister two years ago so It’s really fun to live up with them.” -Maddie Ehrhart (Valparaiso HS 2025 Homecoming Queen)
“From the offensive standpoint, we just need to get better; keep doing what we have to do. Just keep paving the path, Just trust the process. I guarantee we’re going to be at Lucas Oil…definitely going to tell you.” “For the defensive line, it’s more about just being consistent up front, getting physical from the start, starting off with energy early like we really set the tone and anchor the defense. So we’re just making sure we’re good so everyone has to play hard.” “I would speak from a standpoint from both the O and D-Line. I would say that just every day in practice, we make each other better. We go as hard as we can for each other and I think that is going to lead us to Lucas Oil Stadium.” -Jamaal Cherry (Merrillville HS-Offensive Line) Quran Moore and Damion Jones (Merrillville HS Defensive Line)
