Lake County Parks Legend of Sleepy Hollow 2026

Event Information

All Day

Lake County Parks Legend of Sleepy Hollow event is a dramatic & interactive retelling of the headless horseman tale. You’ll purchase tickets for a showtime, and with a group your guide will take you around Buckley Homestead as it’s dressed up as the Village of Sleepy Hollow. You become a part of the story as you talk to townspeople and keep an eye out for Ichabod Crane.

The story is suspenseful and being outside in the lantern-lit park at night can feel eerie, but this is not a frightful or haunted event. Parents of young children should consider the spookability of their child and may want to opt for an earlier (and in turn less dark) show.

Sale Date: Saturday, August 22 AT BUCKLEY HOMESTEAD

Time: 9 AM to Noon (or until tickets are sold out, which ever comes first)

Ticket Cost: $12 per person. Max 12 tickets per person.
Children 2 & under do not need a ticket but will be required to sit on a lap during the hayride portion of the event.

You may line up early and bring chairs, the park opens at 7 AM. Please no beach umbrellas, canopies, etc.

Why the change? For years, Deep River Waterpark has had the best technology to allow us to sell tickets quickly, securely, and safely, but it no doubt has come with drawbacks. Today we have a greater ability to sell tickets from other locations while still prioritizing efficiency & security, and after talking with and surveying ticket purchasers and Sleepy Hollow attendees we’ve developed a new ticket sales model that we hope will be more convenient.

Where will we line up?

Those wishing to purchase tickets should park in the main lot at Buckley Homestead near the visitor center (the same place you park if you’ve ever attended Sleepy Hollow). We will have the ticket sale booth set up along the pathway.

How early should I line up?

With the shift in date and location, we really don’t know what to expect. The park opens at 7 AM, but the parking lot is ungated if you wanted to park even earlier.

Why aren’t ticket sales entirely online?

We aren’t sure how well our systems would handle an entirely online sale, and using a 3rd party service would likely require us to raise ticket prices or pass along fees to you as the purchaser. We will make any tickets that are leftover after the in-person sales available online (details below).

What payments are accepted? Cash or card, for in-person sales, please.

I have another question.

Of course! Send us an email, message us on Facebook, or call the Lake County Parks main business office at 219-769-7275.
