Viking Sports Report 4/29-5/5/2022

The Vikings have been ranked in the top 20 of the Class 4A Indiana Baseball teams. Way to go Vikings!
4/30 – The Freshman team beat Andrean in a hard fought 4-3 win. The Viking defense played flawlessly behind the complete game win of Zach Troxel. On offense the Vikings scored 4 runs on 9 hits. Gabe Bush led the way with 2 doubles and scored 3 times. Trevor Fenters added a double and single with Adler Holtz and Daniel Klapp each singling twice.
5/4 – Tonight was Teacher Appreciation Night! The Seniors selected one of their most influential teachers and asked them to join them on the field for a pitch. It was great to see these hard working teachers honored! It was a double header for the Vikings against Portage to make up for a rain out on Tuesday. The teams split the wins, the Vikings took game 1 with a score of 12-2 and the Indians took game 2 1-5.
4/28 – Softball traveled to Merrillville for a rain make up game on Friday the 28th. Varsity shut out the Pirates, 16-0. Melina Rodriguez pitched all 5 innings, allowing only 2 hits and had 4 strike outs. Paiton Iliff had 1 homerun and 4 RBI’s, DD Lopez had 2 singles and batted in 4 runs.
5/5 – These girls can not lose! It was a shut out win against LaPorte 9-0. Charlotte Dombrowski had a great game on the mound and at the plate. She pitched ll 7 innings allowing only 3 hits, with 15 strike outs. She aslo had 1 homerun and 4 RBI’s. Paition Iliff had 1 homerun, Marley Nagy had 1 single, 1 double and 1 triple.
4/30- The Varsity team competed at the Hall of Fame Invite in Peru and came home with the trophy. The boys had a low team score of 316, defeating Crown Point by 1 stroke and defending State Champs, Center Grove by 2. Below are the individual scores:
5/2 – The JV team competed against the Varsity teams from Morgan Township and South Central and still came away with the win! The team score was 194 points to South Central’s 198 and Morgan’s 223. Below are the individual scores:
5/2 – The Girls took on rivals Chesterton and unfortunately were defeated 0-5 in Varsity and 2-7 in JV. Below are the individual winners for JV:
5/4 – The Lady Vikings won a tough match against a very solid Lake Central team, 3-2. Both the #1 Singles and the #2 Singles went into a 3rd set. JV tied 6-6. Below are the individual winners:

4/29 – The Princess Relays were held In Mishawaka, 15 of the top teams in the area provided some tough competition for our Lady Vikings. We ended up placing 3rd as a team overall. Below are the top finishers:
