Valpo Parks Announces Release of Request for Proposals for former McGill Factory

Valpo Parks announced today the official release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Valpo REC project, an initiative to develop a new, indoor recreation and enrichment campus in Valparaiso. 

This facility is intended to occupy approximately 130,00 square feet within an available 163,000 square foot footprint inside the former McGill Factory. The proposed programming includes: 

• Approximately 25,000 square feet of dedicated courts for various sports.
• 32,000 square feet of indoor turf, offering versatile space for activities.
• 20,000 square feet dedicated to an interactive children’s space, providing engaging educational play. 
• An additional 53,00 square feet of flexible space designed to accommodate youth and senior enrichment areas, a walking track, a café, and essential support spaces. 

Design-Build activities for the new facility are slated to begin as early as October 2025, with completion anticipated for late 2027.

This facility will be a hub for health, wellness, and connection in our city.” 

RFP Submission and Key Dates: 

Sealed proposals for the Valpo REC will be received at the office of the Valpo Parks Administration Office, located at 3210 N Campbell, Valparaiso, Indiana 46385, until 10:00 AM, local prevailing time, on Friday, August 22, 2025. 

The sealed proposals will be publicly opened at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting within City Hall Council Chambers, 166 W. Lincolnway, Valparaiso, IN 46383, beginning at 11:00 AM, local prevailing time, on Friday, August 22, 2025. 

Proposals will be presented, and if acceptable, a recommendation of award will be made at the Board of Public Works meeting within City Hall Council Chambers, 166 W.
