As the next step in Valpo’s “Valpo Vision 2050” comprehensive planning process, the City of Valparaiso is inviting the public to attend an interactive “Map the Vision” night where the community can help to shape the future map of Valparaiso. “We’ve had enthusiastic community input and now we’d like to take some of these ideas and place them on the map for the future,” said Valpo Planning Director Bob Thompson.
“Now is the time for the community to help determine the future for our transportation networks, neighborhoods, work environments, shopping excursions, community events and more,” said Thompson. “We hope to see faces of all ages and interests. Please join us – and bring a friend who lives in Valpo.”

Map the Vision night is a key step as the City of Valparaiso updates its Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) in 2026. These plans will guide future growth and direct development over the next 20+ years. With the help of Houseal Lavigne, urban planning specialists, Valpo is inviting the community to share ideas and direction. “Together we’ll be articulating a vision and putting strategies in place to see it realized. The plan will address areas such as land use, transit and roadways, facilities, services, recreation and community identity,” explained Thompson.
