Valparaiso Police Department Honors 9/11 Heroes in Memorial Stair Climb

On the anniversary of one of the most tragic days in our nation’s history, members of the Valparaiso Police Department joined with the Valparaiso Fire Department and the Porter County Sheriff’s Department to participate in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, held in solemn remembrance of the first responders who gave their lives on Septem ber 11, 2001.

The event symbolically honors the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and hundreds of other emergency personnel who courageously climbed the World Trade Center towers in the face of unimaginable danger. Each step taken during the climb serves as a tribute to their heroism and sacrifice.

“Our participation in this climb is more than a gesture — it is a promise to never for get the lives lost and the bravery shown by those who ran toward danger when oth ers were fleeing,” said Andrew McIntyre, Chief of the Valparaiso Police Department. “It’s an honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow first responders in remembrance and unity.”

The Valparaiso Police Department remains committed to honoring the legacy of those who served and sacrificed, and to continuing the mission of public safety with the same dedication and courage displayed on that day.
