Top 10 ways to celebrate a fun summer in Crown Point

As one of the fastest growing communities throughout the Region, Crown Point has developed a reputation for being one of the best places to live. The community leaders, department heads, board members, elected officials, and many other community volunteers all work collaboratively to ensure that Crown Point remains a city defined by growth and achievement.

One reason this community has been a safe, evolving area stems from the opportunities the community has to have fun. Venues such as Bulldog Park, the Crown Point square, Crown Point Sportsplex, Lake County Fairgrounds, and a series of restaurants have helped the community earn its “Hub of Lake County” nickname.

The summer season is one of the busiest times in Crown Point, with something for people of all ages to try their hands at. Take a look at our list of 10 ways to have fun this summer in Crown Point!

Farmers Market

Healthy living is important for everyone, and the Crown Point Farmer’s Market has made that a point of emphasis for several years. Featuring more than 70 artisans and farmers, along with a collection of vendors, the whole family can walk away from this event with something to enjoy.

This event takes place on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the market will last through September 26. Stop by the market this summer and pick up some fresh fruits, vegetables, and more!

Car Cruise

From June to September, the Crown Point Car Cruise drives the community into evenings filled with nostalgia, classic cars, and a showcase of evolution. Every Tuesday through September 29, Wittenberg Village will welcome car owners and enthusiasts in the area from 4-8 p.m.

Whether you are a new or experienced member of the car community, people of all ages are welcome to check out some of the sweetest rides in the city!

Free and Ticketed Concerts

Each year, the City of Crown Point prepares a new lineup for the Summer Concert Series at Bulldog Park. This event allows local residents to experience musicians and bands right in the heart of downtown Crown Point.

Concerts are held on the lawn of the Franciscan Health Amphitheater on various Tuesdays in the summer. Performers such as Kyla Webb, the Jolly Ringwalds, the Hicks Duo, Mr. Funnyman, Echoes of Pompeii, and more will be taking the stage this summer. With a mix of free and ticketed concerts, check out these events to secure a seat early!

Splash Pad

Kids love spending time in the pool during the warmer months of the year. The City of Crown Point’s Splash Pad helps create a waterpark-like experience at Bulldog Park throughout the summer.

This splash pad is located two blocks from downtown Crown Point, and it remains open from Memorial Day through Labor Day every year. Grab your swim wear and watch your kids having fun running through the sprinkling water!

Storytime with the Crown Point Library

Throughout the summer, Storytime with the Crown Point Community Library is a prime opportunity to not only spend time with your kids, but also educate them in an interactive way. These events are more than simply children’s books; the stories come to life and allow the kids to get on their feet and act out as the story goes along.

Children ages 2-6 and their family are welcome to come to Bulldog Park for these storytime events. No registration is required, so come start your day with a tale to remember!

Movies with the Crown Point Library

Spend your Friday nights throughout the summer at Movies with the Crown Point Library. On select days, Bulldog Park hosts movie nights at 7:30 p.m. This series is held in partnership with the City of Crown Point and sponsored by the Friends of the Crown Point Library.

This summer kicked off Bulldog Park’s movie nights with the film “GOAT.” Throughout the next few months, the park will show “Hoppers,” “Zootopia 2” and “The Bad Guys 2.” Concessions also will be available for purchase. Grab a seat and enjoy these summer films.

Corn Roast

With Indiana being the powerhouse state for corn, it only makes sense to honor the vegetable through a weekend of entertainment. The annual Corn Roast is an event that features everything related to corn. This includes corn hole tournaments, corn eating contests, and more.

With local musical performers scheduled throughout the evening, the Corn Roast brings life to people of all walks during a multi-day slate of activities. Over 20 vendors stop by Bulldog Park every year to join in the fun of this event. It’s a celebration you don’t want to miss!

City-Wide Picnic

If you want to share a snack with your friends and family members, the City-Wide Picnic at Bulldog Park will bring hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, and a variety of sides to the venue. Mayor Pete Land, board and commission members, and department heads will all be present.

From 1-4 p.m., the space will transform into a delicious feast for all in the community to enjoy. Bring your best pals to this opportunity to connect with local residents and enjoy some popular food choices!

Taste of Crown Point

The Taste of Crown Point is a festival that allows local residents two days to sample foods from all over Crown Point. Taking place this year on July 17-18 at Bulldog Park, local eateries will showcase their signature dishes to accompany live music and a beer garden.

This is one of the best events of the summer to create a memorable experience through a relaxing evening with friends and family members. Try some new foods from these backyard vendors with this free community celebration!
