The Porter County Board of Commissioners are accepting applications

The Porter County Board of Commissioners are accepting applications for the following Boards:

• Alcohol Beverage Board – 1 Appointment (No political affiliation necessary.)
• Board of Health – 2 Appointments (Both must be Democratic political affiliation.)
• Convention, Recreation and Visitors Commission – 2 Appointments (No political affiliation necessary.)
• Board of Zoning Appeals – 1 Appointment (No political affiliation necessary.)
• Opioid Committee – 2 Appointments (No political affiliation necessary.)
• Parks and Recreation – 1 Appointment (Must be a Republican political affiliation necessary.)
• Plan Commission – 2 Appointment (No political affiliation, must resided in unincorporated Porter County.) 
• PTABOA – 2 Appointments (No political affiliation necessary.)
• Recycle and Solid Waste – 1 Appointment (Must be a Mayor or a Town Council member.) 
• Redevelopment Commission – 2 Appointments (No political affiliation necessary.)
• Stormwater Advisory Board – 1 Appointment (No political affiliation necessary, must reside in Unincorporated Porter County and have knowledge of storm water drainage and management.)
• West Porter Fire District – 2 Appointments (No political affiliation, must be a Porter County resident of the West Porter Fire District.  Must have experience in fire protection.)

Individuals interested in being considered for a board position may visit the Porter County Commissioners’ office, 155 Indiana Avenue, Suite 205, Valparaiso, IN. to obtain an application or visit our website at www.portercountyin.gov under the Board of Commissioners and click on “Citizen Board Appointments”.

The applications must be received via email at Melanie.Griffin@portercountyin.gov or in person at 155 Indiana Ave, Suite 205, Valparaiso, IN 46383 no later than December 31^st, 2025 at 4:30pm. The Commissioners will make the appointments at the January 6^th, 2026 Commissioners’ meeting at 10am.
