The Brooks at Vale Park showcases Courtyard at the Brooks with Sales and Model Office Grand Opening

The Brooks at Vale Park showcases Courtyard at the Brooks with Sales and Model Office Grand Opening

On Wednesday, December 10, The Courtyard at The Brooks was on display for members of the community at the grand opening of its sales and model office. The event welcomed attendees to check out the space for the first time as a completed project, with a presentation that followed at 5:30 p.m. showcasing this low-maintenance neighborhood within the Brooks at Vale Park.

“It’s good that we’re able to celebrate this,” said Chuck Williams, co-founder of The Brooks. “These people are interested in getting into a more active adult lifestyle with less care that they have to provide for their property.”

This community is expected to serve as one of the premier 55+ adult communities for Valparaiso residents. Attendees were treated to a selection showroom with beautiful finishes, smart design details, and additional quality features that are planned for each residence.

Valparaiso is loaded with plenty of restaurants and shops, and the city continues to implement new projects to meet the needs of its residents. Being able to open this facility in the heart of the city opens a door for residents to remain active within the community without some of the more burdensome aspects of home ownership.

The facility is designed by Epcon Communities, which is known for creating luxury single-level homes in low-maintenance communities. While this grand opening ceremony is a way to recognize the people who made this project possible, it also spotlights a unique lifestyle that has made its way to Valparaiso communities.

“What Epcon does specifically is outdoor living and recreation,” Williams said. “The Brooks is probably one of the nicest subdivisions within the city limits. We try to offer zero steps into the house, which is key for a community that’s looking at ages 55 and older. We are not an age-restricted community either; instead, I would say we are age-targeted.”

After years of working with Epcon, there’s been a lot of excitement about how this collaboration has been panning out.

“What drew us to Epcon over the last three years has been their culture,” said Chris Knight, co-founder of The Brooks. “We’ve been visiting them over the last three years, with franchise and corporate developments all over the place.”

At the event, everyone had an opportunity to ask questions, enjoy hor d’oeuvres, and soak in the lifestyle of The Courtyards at The Brooks.

This development was built by South Shore Homes and gives the community freedom to enjoy life without any yard work burdens, such as mowing, raking, or shoveling. Located within The Brooks at Vale Park – alongside Silver Oaks and Upland Prairie & the Bluffs – this residence has something for any older adult looking to set their own pace, from morning walks to relaxing evenings under the sunset.

“It’s a great place for residents to be,” Williams said. “There’s going to be pickleball, a swimming pool, a clubhouse, golf simulators, and exercise facilities that are available to everyone. There are also about three miles of outdoor trails for people to utilize. There are not a lot of single-family communities with a pool and many of these other features that we have here.”

Director of Sales Jennifer Keating is looking forward to what this community will become in 2026.

“We’re going to start our clubhouse here as soon as we can,” Keating said. “We just got our state release about a week ago, so it’s going to be a busy 2026. Hopefully, we can get the clubhouse built as quickly as possible, so that our residents can start enjoying it.”
