Team Chevrolet hosts Team Auto Store’s NWI employee appreciation day event at Deep River Waterpark

Cloudy skies didn’t keep families from coming together to celebrate Team Auto Store’s NWI employee appreciation day event at Deep River Waterpark on August 2. Employees, along with their families and friends, enjoyed snacks and beverages, upbeat music, and the many fun activities the park has to offer.

Heidi Eckert, wife to Ron, a longtime employee, said the event is a great way for the automotive group family to get together every year and enjoy the benefits that come with being a part of the family.

“Ron has been there for 19 years, and there are so many perks that come with it,” Eckert said. “We brought our teenage son, and he brought his friends, so it’s great that it’s not just for employees and families, but also for friends. We were welcome to bring anyone!”

Heidi Eckert works in healthcare, so she knows how important it is to be able to have time to relax and unwind. She said that it’s vital for people to feel like more than a number, and that it’s easy to get lost in the job and feel like hard work gets overlooked.

“Gurley Leep has an amazing amount of advantages,” Eckert said. “They even have a matching program that if you want to save for vacation, they’ll match up to a certain dollar amount, which is unheard of. They have a scholarship program, and we’re using it to put our son through college.”

Eckert’s opinion is not the exception. Carl Mortensen, an employee with Team Honda, echoed the praise by discussing how happy he is to be able to enjoy a night out relaxing and getting to know his fellow team members.

“My family and I just love coming here,” Mortensen said. “This is, I think, our sixth or seventh year to come to it. It’s always a great time. It’s nice to see all the families of the other employees here. It’s really nice that our company does things like this for us.”

There was something for everyone to enjoy. Whether in the shade with snacks and cool drinks or out in the pool, splash pad, or slides, the group was all smiles and engaged in conversation in a setting that felt more like a family reunion than a work event.

“I just think that it’s a great company to work for,” Mortensen said. “It’s really nice how they care about families and they take the time to set up nice things like this.”

With the park to themselves, everyone in attendance felt instantly relaxed as they entered.

Robert Allcorn, an employee with the newly founded Jeep Dodge Chrysler team store, brought several members of his family to enjoy the waterpark.

“Anything that says family is important to me, and not only this family, but the family that you work with,” Allcorn said. “All of it makes it worthwhile. From day one when the team introduced themselves to us as a family, the first thing that came out of their mouths from one of the owners is that he was taught by his parents to, when you be fruitful, not only be fruitful on your job, but be fruitful to others. And just for this little time that I’ve been there, it’s been shown to be fruitful.”

Allcorn said that his time as an employee has proven to him that he is in the right place. Every store, and every employee in the stores, exemplifies the values he himself has always held dear.

“You come to not only our store but to all of them, and you’ll get a healthy housewarming and special loving service from everyone, from the salespeople all the way to the people that clean the floors,” Allcorn said.
