Strack & Van Til Charity Foundation chips in to local communities with annual charity golf outing at White Hawk Country Club

Members of the community came together for a beautiful morning mixed with camaraderie and chip-ins as the Strack & Van Til Charity Foundation hosted its annual golf outing on Wednesday, August 13 at White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point. Hundreds of employees, vendors, and supporters of the foundation took it to the golf course to support a good cause. Everyone in attendance was treated to lunch once everyone finished on the course.

Jeff Strack, President of Strack & Van Til, admires how this event is a way to raise funds that can be given back to organizations in local communities.

“It’s very humbling to see the support from hundreds of our vendor partners. From the largest companies to the smallest, they all step up and help support this event,” said Strack. “It’s our communities that we’re helping, not just Strack & Van Til customers. At Strack & Van Til, we sell things within our four walls, but we’re trying to help make Northwest Indiana a better place to live in the process. We do that through supporting organizations and events that work towards enhancing the quality of life in the communities that we serve and live in.”

For more than 40 years, the Strack & Van Til Charity Foundation has organized this golf outing. “We spend a lot of time with the people that we work with. It’s nice to get away from the typical business setting that we deal with almost every day and get out, have some fun, and get to know people on a more personal level,” said Strack. “At the end of the day, everything in life is about relationships. Having relationships with not only our customers but with our vendor partners as well is extremely helpful. That’s been a part of the success of Strack & Van Til for over 96 years.”

This annual golf outing has supported a plethora of organizations throughout the years in the Region, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.

“We support the communities in various ways through our corporate profits and our foundation,” Strack said. “We try to get in touch with as many of the organizations out there that are trying to do good things, help people, and help our communities be a better place to live. That is what it’s all about.”

Strack considers this tradition to be one of the most exhilarating days of the year for the company. It’s one thing to bring so many faces, new and old, into White Hawk Country Club as a means of fundraising and networking; it’s another thing to do so every year without missing a beat.

“It’s always exciting to see people who you haven’t seen in years still come out to support this event,” Strack said. “It’s all about building relationships and partnerships. When we do that, it’s a win-win situation for everyone.”

Once the golfing was completed, attendees were invited to an indoor dining area for lunch with all of the groups.

From getting the golfers checked in to providing a meal for everyone who came, this event takes a team effort to organize and run smoothly every year. While the Strack & Van Til Charity Foundation is always excited to see the support they receive from the community in this event, there is always a strong desire to have fun on the green.

One attendee of this year’s golf outing was Kristin Snow, who enjoyed dedicating the day to a friendly competition with familiar faces.

“I enjoyed being able to get together with friends and coworkers outside of work. Being able to be here with each other is very fun,” said Snow.

This event was the perfect opportunity for the Strack & Van Til family to get out of the office for a day, build relationships with vendors, and raise money to create a better future for the company and Northwest Indiana alike. The event has become a normality at this point, and Strack & Van Til is excited to continue its growth for the foreseeable future.
