With the winter season right around the corner, it’s important to take the first steps to prepare for the snow days ahead. Redwood Landscape provides a variety of snow and ice management services in Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area to ensure safety and accessibility for local residents.
Rick Castle is the division operations manager who handles the snow service contracts with Redwood Landscape. While each client’s situation might be different, he understands the importance of satisfying every customer with quality service.
“We’re all about serving the client and keeping their property safe,” Castle said. “We make sure to do things the right way, be available for the community, and get things done on time to meet their needs.”
Some of the snow services that Redwood Landscape provides during the winter season include snow plowing, sidewalk clearing, salting, de-icing, snow hauling, and relocation. These crews are experienced with working in harsh conditions, and these services help keep community residents away from hazardous environments.
“We’re a full-service snow removal company,” Castle said. “All of our trucks are outfitted with salt spreaders and plows. We have a lot of skid steer loaders that go out in each snowstorm. We’re focused on the correct practices like calibrating salt spreaders, understanding how much salt to put down, and mapping the area. It helps that we have state-of-the-art equipment at Redwood that keeps us at the top of our game.”
Northwest Indiana’s unique location along Lake Michigan can create unpredictability during winter. However, Redwood Landscape provides 24/7 emergency services to ensure property safety at all times.
“Throughout the winter especially, we are always monitoring the weather,” Castle said. “This is an area where you get a lot of lake-effect snow. Every day to us is a snow day. We’re always ready to dispatch, and we have guys on call every night. You never know what’s going to happen with the weather. After a storm, we have a crew who will go out to service and refuel machines. Everything is ready once our team is done with it, and we get everything restocked and refueled immediately.”
With a seasonal contract, customers can simplify their snow and ice management with proactive services to keep properties prepared for the winter. This eliminates the hassle for people who are running behind on planning.
“The seasonal contracts include an inclusive budget number for every customer,” Castle said. “We build around their seasonal pricing and what the customer is looking for. The plus for them is that, no matter what happens, they know what the cost will be for the season. With some of our time-and-material contracts, those contracts can become a little more pricey if there is a lot of snow in the winter. Overall, it all evens out over a three-year average. The seasonal contract helps keep our customers on a budget of what they have available to spend on their snow removal services.”
Since 2008, Redwood Landscape has been providing its winter service for commercial properties. The team continues to strive for better services, safety, and a quality experience as the years go on.
“We’re always upgrading the equipment and trying to stay up-to-date with the industry trends,” Castle said. “The plows, salt spreaders, and sidewalk equipment over the last decade have only become more efficient. We have a lot of guys who have been doing snow removal for more than 10 years. It helps to have a team of people, both in the office and out in the field, who have a good understanding of regular day-to-day operations.
