On December 10, Purdue Federal Credit Union hosted its fourth annual holiday event at Culinary Misfits in Crown Point. The celebration brought together employees, members, and business partners for an evening full of food, fun, and holiday cheer.
The gathering gave guests a chance to unwind and learn more about Purdue Federal’s growing presence in Northwest Indiana. From 5–8 p.m guests could eat, drink, and be merry. The room quickly filled with conversation, warm embraces and lots of Christmas sweaters.
For Assistant Vice President of Marketing Carrie North, events like this are about strengthening relationships that matter.
“We like to take time to invite all of our select employee groups and other businesses in the community to come out and either see who we are or say thank you for the relationship that we have so far,” North said. “It’s a time to come together, especially during the holidays, and maybe learn a little bit about Purdue Federal. We’re trying to invest ourselves in the community.”
That sense of connection extends beyond the holiday season, said Chief Administrative Officer Jackie Hofman. She emphasized the credit union’s commitment to building trust as they expand locally.
“Tonight is about member appreciation. It’s our way of showing our partners in the community here in Northwest Indiana how much we value them,” Hofman said. “I hope people leave here feeling that they can trust us. We are part of this community, and we really value our partnerships. We are embedded here and committed to the communities in which we serve.”
Later in the evening, Account Vice President of Business Development Matt Scheuer thanked attendees and recognized the staff members who bring Purdue Federal’s mission to life. His remarks centered on the idea that the institution’s strongest traditions come from its people.
“The tradition of Purdue Federal is not simply pitching a product,” Scheuer said. “It’s finding solutions through relationships we build in moments like these.”
Scheuer spotlighted the teams whose work shapes the member experience—from the marketing department that goes above and beyond to mortgage specialists guiding first-time homebuyers, and everyone in between.
He also encouraged attendees to think about how those values extend outward, emphasizing solutions that support the wider community. QR codes were placed on tables throughout the venue linking directly to donation opportunities.
“Any donation made through these codes will support one of our select employee group partners, the United Way. To help encourage the spirit of giving, Purdue Federal will match the entire donation pool – dollar for dollar – tonight,” Scheuer said.
The donations were a way to ensure the evening’s warmth reached beyond the room.
“I love the chance for people to get out, build relationships, become part of our select employee group structure, and bring that to their employees as a great value and a chance to become part of the family,” he said.
