Northwest Health – Porter Adds General and Trauma Surgeon Surgery Group

Northwest Health welcomes board-certified general surgeon Reuben Rutland, MD, MBA, FACS, to Northwest Medical Group. Dr. Rutland has expertise in general surgery and trauma surgery. He joined the Northwest Medical Group – General Surgery office at 85 E. U.S. Highway 6, Suite 240, where he joined the hospital’s four additional general surgeons.
Dr. Rutland’s specialties include breast surgery, gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery, skin cancer and mass removal, surgery of the gastrointestinal tract including colon, trauma surgery, and upper screening endoscopy.
He completed his medical education at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., and his residency at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Conn. Dr. Rutland completed his fellowship at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Conn., and is certified and an instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support.
With the addition of Dr. Rutland, Northwest Health has assembled a team of five general surgeons at the Valparaiso office to enhance its scope of care and meet the surgical needs of the communities it serves.
