NorthShore Health Centers joins IPHCA in celebrating Indiana Governor Mike Braun at inaugural Community Health Center Champion Award ceremony

On Tuesday, October 20, the Indiana Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) honored Indiana Governor Mike Braun with its inaugural Community Health Center Champion Award during a ceremony held in Indianapolis. The award was created to recognize Braun’s commitment to ensuring Hoosiers throughout the state have access to affordable healthcare.

NorthShore Health Centers CEO David Hall was in attendance to celebrate Braun’s work. NorthShore is a Community Health Center offering comprehensive care to its patients without exclusion and has directly benefitted from Braun’s support.

“At NorthShore Health Centers, our mission is to provide quality, affordable healthcare to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. We appreciate Governor Braun’s support of Community Health Centers and his commitment to protecting the resources that allow us to continue providing essential services, improving access to care, and building healthier communities,” Hall said.

During his time as a statesman, Braun has worked directly with Community Health Centers like NorthShore to address concerns, seek advice, and to stay informed on community needs while authoring and voting on legislation. This was especially true in 2026, when Braun and his team exempted qualifying health centers from Medicare changes that would have impacted their accessible resources.

IPHCA CEO Ben Harvey believes Braun’s willingness to work with local healthcare providers ensures Hoosiers, especially those in underserved communities, will experience better health outcomes.

“When health centers raised concerns about the consequences for patients, Governor Braun listened and acted,” Harvey said in apress release. “His leadership protected care in communities across Indiana and demonstrated the value of working together on practical solutions.”

Community Health Centers like NorthShore often support underserved communities, such as rural communities, people of color, and those experiencing poverty. These patients may not have immediate access to healthcare, both physically and financially, without their local health center.

While accepting the award, Braun reaffirmed his commitment to helping every person in Indiana live their healthiest life.

“I’m honored to receive this award and grateful for the vital work Community Health Centers do to provide affordable, quality care to Hoosiers. I remain committed to protecting access to care, supporting rural communities, and working with local health leaders to build a healthier, more affordable Indiana,” he said.
