NITCO Employee Spotlight: Toni Smith

Toni Smith is a Help Desk specialist at NITCO. She has been with the company for nearly a decade. 

“I’ve been with NITCO for just over eight years and have been in the same role during that time,” Smith said. “I genuinely enjoy my department and the work I do, and I’ve never felt the desire to leave because it’s such a great fit for me.”

In her role, Smith assists customers with troubleshooting and general questions about their NITCO services, including internet and television. 

“What I love most about my role is helping our elderly customers,” she said. “Being able to guide them through solutions and make things easier for them is very rewarding.”

Smith works a portion of her role in the office and also works from home. This semi-remote setup is great for her weekly schedule. 

“I truly appreciate the flexibility of working in a hybrid environment, which allows for a great work-life balance,” Smith said.

Smith enjoys crafts and various creative activities when she has the opportunity to do so. She also likes taking trips to New Buffalo, Michigan to visit the Four Winds Casino.

“In my free time, I enjoy quilting and crafting—anything creative and hands-on,” she said. “I enjoy occasionally visiting the casino on some nights for a little fun and entertainment.” 

Smith admires the NITCO team from top to bottom, and she considers it to be a collaborative environment that can help her thrive.

“What I enjoy most is the team environment,” said Smith. “Everyone is truly willing to help one another. When I was hired, I was told there would always be someone to turn to if I needed help — that has proven to be absolutely true. That level of support makes a big difference.”

This camaraderie at NITCO is true, even on a management and executive level. 

“I’ve experienced firsthand that our managers are not just supervisors — they’re understanding, empathetic individuals who recognize that life happens,” said Smith. “They’re accommodating and supportive when challenges arise.”

Across NITCO, no matter their department or title, team members are ready and willing to assist one another. They all work toward a common goal to help the business thrive and come together as a corporate community when moments arise that call for this support. 

“I know that if I ever couldn’t reach someone within my immediate circle, I have an entire building of people who would step in and help,” Smith said. “That sense of community is very real here.”

Smith has very much found a home at NITCO, and she plans to remain with the team for many years to come.

“I truly hope to retire at NITCO,” she said. “It’s a wonderful place to work, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a supportive and caring organization.”

Smith is one of the many amazing NITCO team members. In her role as a help desk specialist, her contributions to the company are key to helping the company’s clients and she very much embraces NITCO’s collaborative environment in her daily work life.
