Myers second grade is learning how to eat healthy and exercise! Professor Popcorn is a program put on by Purdue University to help students make better choices for a healthy lifestyle. Professor Popcorn comes every Friday for six weeks to promote getting up from the video games and becoming active. She includes ways that students are able to move rather than sit and challenges the kids to do an activity during the week. Her discussion of the food groups helps the children focus on the amounts of fruits and veggies they need to eat so their bodies can grow. It always ends with a healthy snack such as V-8 juice one day and kale chips/freeze dried peas, aka. swamp chips and moon crunchies, the next! The students enjoy and learn to try new tastes while becoming good at healthy food choices! Myers loves Professor Popcorn!
