La Lumiere School’s Academic Decathlon Team Heads to State!

La Lumiere School’s Academic Decathlon team placed second in the small school division and third overall at the state regional competition held this past Saturday at Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield. The win qualifies the Lakers to compete in the 28th Annual Indiana Academic Decathlon State Finals, February 8-9 on the Purdue University, West Lafayette Campus.
Students compete in the Academic Decathlon in three divisions determined by GPA; Honors Division, Scholastic Division and Varsity Division. The following students won medals:
Daisy Costello of Chesterton competed in the Honors Division and placed 2nd in Essay, Social Science, and Math; and 3rd in Art, Music, Interview, Science and Overall.
Lydia Costello of Chesterton competed in the Honors Division and placed 3rd in Essay and Language & Literature.
Maryclare Cremin of Northfield, IL competed in the Scholastic Division and placed 1st in Essay, and 3rd in Art, and Language & Literature
Cormac Gahan of South Haven, MI competed in the Scholastic Division and placed 2nd in Speech and 3rd in Interview.
Danielle Ivanovich of Chesterton placed 2nd in Essay and Interview and 3rd in Language & Literature
Madison Kemper of New Buffalo, MI competed in the Honors Division and placed 1st in Speech, Interview, Social Science, Math, Art, and Language & Literature; and 2nd in Music, Economics and Overall
Patrick Lake of La Porte competed in the Scholastic Division and placed 3rd in Speech, and Language & Literature.
Keith Miler of South Bend competed in the Varsity Division and placed 3rd in Interview.
Lenik Zaranski of Chesterton competed in the Varsity Division and placed 3rd in Economics.
