La Lumiere School in Top 10 at Science Olympiad State Competition

For the 22nd consecutive year, La Lumiere students earned a spot in the Science Olympiad state competition. La Lumiere School placed 8th overall and medaled in six events and one trial event. The top 30 teams from nine regions of Indiana competed in 23 different events as well as three trial events. Medals were awarded to the top five in each event. The following students won medals:

Second Place

• Astronomy – Drew Yarger, South Bend and Patrick Smith, Muncie

Third Place

• Boomilever – Penfie Jiao, China

Fourth Place

• Circuits – Nicholas Liu, China and Drew Yarger, South Bend
• Experimental Design – Kelly Barr, La Porte; Marina Walinski, Rolling Prairie; and Drew Yarger, South Bend
• Forensics – Kelly Barr, La Porte and Lucas Tang, Portage
• Game On (Trial Event) – Marina Walinski, Rolling Prairie and Nolan Grieger, La Porte

• Gravity Vehicle – Nicholas Liu, China
